Second stage of expansion of the SUSU Tornado supercomputer The second stage of expansion of the Tornado SUSU supercomputer has been completed. The supercomputer received an additional 192 multi-core Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors. The performance of the supercomputer increased to 473.6 TFlops. After the expansion, the supercomputer rose to the 3rd position in 20th edition of the Top50 list ;the most powerful computers in the CIS. |

SUSU LCM staff took part in the international supercomputer exhibition ISC’2013 The 28th annual supercomputing exhibition-conference was held in Leipzig (Germany) from 16 to 20 June International Supercomputing Conference 2013 (ISC’13) — one of the world’s largest events dedicated to high-performance computing and supercomputing technologies. The 41st edition of the world ranking of supercomputing systemsTop500 was announced at the conference. The list includes two supercomputers of South Ural State University: “Tornado SUSU” and “SKIF-Aurora SUSU”, ranking 249th and 471st respectively. |

International Supercomputer Conference PaVT’2013 Held at SUSU 1–5 April 2013 at South Ural State National Research University with financial support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Researchthe 7th international scientific conference “Parallel Computing Technologies (PCT)”. The founders of the conference are Russian Academy of Sciences and Supercomputer Consortium of Russian Universities. The PAW Conference is an annual scientific event held in major scientific centers of Russia. The scientific forum in Chelyabinsk brought together 240 scientists from 35 cities of Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Germany, Switzerland and the USA. The conference participants represented 90 organizations, including 29 institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences and research institutes, 30 universities, 23 representatives of the IT industry and 8 representatives of industry. |

SSUSU LCM staff took part in the international supercomputer exhibition SC’2012 The 24th annual world’s largest conference on supercomputing technologies was held in Salt Lake City (USA) November 10-16Supercomputing Conference 2012 (SC’12). Within the framework of the conference, an exhibition was held, at which 363 organizations demonstrated their achievements: manufacturers of supercomputers and software, as well as the world’s leading universities working in the field of supercomputer technologies. During the conference sessions, new editions of list of the TOP500 most powerful supercomputers in the world  ;(40th edition) and GREEN500 most energy efficient supercomputers (12- th edition). «SUSU Tornado» and«SKIF-Aurora SUSU» developed by the Russian company “RSK”, took the 170th and 303rd places respectively in the TOP500 list. |

The 17th edition of the Top 50 list has been published The Research Computing Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Interdepartmental Supercomputing Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences announce the release of the seventeenth edition of the list Tor50 the most powerful computers in the CIS. The announcement of the new version of the list took place on September 18 at the International Supercomputer Conference “Scientific Service on the Internet: Search for New Solutions”, held by the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Supercomputer Consortium of Russian Universities with the support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research. The supercomputer “SKIF-Aurora SUSU” took the fourth position in the rating, showing a performance of 100.35 trillion operations per second (TFlop/s) on the LINPACK test. |

National Research South Ural State University has signed cooperation agreements with leading German supercomputer centers. From 9 to 15 October a delegation SUSU Supercomputer Simulation Laboratoriesvisited the leading German supercomputer centers: Stuttgart Center for High Performance Computing (High performance computing center Stuttgart – HLRS), Institute for Parallel and Distributed Computing, University of Stuttgart (Institute of Parallel and Distributed Systems – IPVS), Institute for Advanced Modeling (Institute for Advanced Simulation) Jülich Supercomputing Center, Heidelberg Institute for Informatics University. The result of the trip was the signing of agreements with these centers on cooperation in the field of high performance computing and supercomputing education. |

More than 2,000 people from 52 countries of the world took part in the conference. Within the framework of the conference, exhibition was held, which presented expositions of 152 organizations offering their solutions in the field of supercomputer technologies and distributed computing (manufacturers of supercomputer equipment and technological platforms, universities, research institutes, research centers). Russia was represented at the exhibition by four organizations: Lomonosov Moscow State University, South Ural State University, RSK and T-Platforms. |
